LeadingAge Honors Broadlawn Manor, South Oaks Board Chairman - Robert F. Rose receives Trustee of the Year Award from prestigious non-profit organization

AMITYVILLE, NY, April 11, 2014 -- Robert F. Rose, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Broadlawn Manor and South Oaks Hospital, was recently awarded the prestigious LeadingAge, New York, Trustee of the Year Award, the North Shore-LIJ Health System announced today.

Leading Age, New York represents 560 not-for profit organizations dedicated to expanding the world of possibilities for aging while advancing policies, promoting practices and conducting research that support, enable and empower people to live fully as they age. Gerard M. Kaiser, vice president of senior services at Broadlawn Manor, nominated Mr. Rose, citing his exemplary service, spirit and dedication.

Robert E. Detor, president & chief executive officer of Broadlawn Manor and South Oaks Hospital joined Mr. Kaiser to present the award at a special breakfast attended by family, friends and colleagues.

"During Mr. Rose's tenure, Broadlawn Manor has made significant advances as evidenced by our integrated electronic medical record, expanded services on our subacute service and adult day health program while renovating our facility to better serve our community," Mr. Kaiser said during the presentation. "Mr. Rose's guidance, clear direction and invaluable support have been a catalyst in achieving our goals."

Mr. Detor congratulated the honoree on behalf of all the patients, residents, families and staff at Broadlawn Manor. Mr. Detor expanded his congratulations and gratitude to include the outstanding leadership and judgment Mr. Rose has demonstrated since becoming Chairman in 2005. He highlighted numerous contributions and decisions put forth by Mr. Rose and the board.

"These decisions have strengthened our organization and our community as well as assuring our legacy of caring for people for more than l30 years will continue to have a positive impact on future generations," Mr. Detor said.

Mr. Rose thanked all those in attendance and LeadingAge, New York for this honor and accepted the award in recognition of the valuable services provided by Broadlawn Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

"The continuum of quality care at Broadlawn Manor is something I take pride in and I can assure you as someone who has had family and friends access services, we truly live our mission, We Care for People. On a more personal note, I have considered my tenure as Chairman of the Board of Trustees a privilege and an opportunity to serve our community," Mr. Rose said. "I am proud of what we have accomplished together and look forward to our continued success as a member of the North Shore-LIJ Health System. I would like to thank my wife, Mary, for her personal support and understanding as well as her own personal advocacy on behalf of Broadlawn Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and South Oaks Hospital."
