The Kiwanis Club of Massapequa Makes a Real Difference for Children & Adolescents at South Oaks Hospital
The holiday season is a wonderful time of year! A time to celebrate with our family and friends. It is always an extra special time for kids. This year, the children and adolescents at South Oaks Hospital had a wonderful holiday largely in part to the generosity of the Massapequa Kiwanis Club.
On Monday, December 20th, Kathleen Behan, 2nd Vice President, Nancy Farrell and Rick Falta, all Kiwanians arrived at South Oaks Hospital weighed down with enormous bags of holiday gifts. All the items and sizes had been carefully selected to meet the individual wishes of the children and adolescents. Ms. Tara Porcaro, Administrative Director of Child Psychiatry, Ms. Gina Matcovsky, Administrative Director of Adolescent Psychiatry and Ms. Patricia Little, Charge Nurse Child Psychiatry, stood in the midst of dolls, action figures, stuffed animals, board games, pajamas, slippers, mittens and scarves gladly accepting the gifts on behalf of their children, adolescents, families and staff. They eagerly shared appreciation and gratitude to the Massapequa Kiwanis Club for their true spirit of giving.
The smiles on the faces of the kids would certainly warm your hearts. The Kiwanis Club of Massapequa made a real difference. We thank them for their generosity, care and concern and wish each member of the Kiwanis Club and their families a very Happy, Healthy New Year.
