Broadlawn Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and South Oaks Hospital Host Mini Walk-A-Thon Benefiting The Alzheimer's Association

(September 23, 2009) On Tuesday, September l5, 2009 residents, registrants, patients, families and staff from Broadlawn Manor and South Oaks Hospital walked around the designated path at The Long Island Home campus to demonstrate their support for The Alzheimer's Association.

It was a beautiful day for a walk and all participants enjoyed the outing and refreshments. Mary Ann Malack-Ragona, Executive Director of The Alzheimer's Association, Long Island Chapter, Gerard M. Kaiser, Vice President of Senior Services for Broadlawn Manor, Maureen Thompson, Community Relations Coordinator of the Mini Walk and Elizabeth Frasca, Director of Therapeutic Recreation for Broadlawn Manor were all on hand to thank everyone for their support.

Mr. Kaiser thanked team captains, Leslie Mutterperl, Director of Senior Services for South Oaks Hospital and Danielle Maers, Recreational Therapist at Broadlawn Adult Day Services for their outstanding outreach to staff and families. Mr. Kaiser stated "he is delighted to present a check in the amount of $1400.00 to the Alzheimer's Association and he welcomed the opportunity to be part of the move to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research."
